Remembrance Sunday 2019

Every year, the Legion calls on the nation to unite in commemorating Remembrance Sunday.

On Sunday 10 November 2019, the National Service of Remembrance honoured the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community, the British and Commonwealth veterans, the Allies that fought alongside us and the civilian servicemen and women involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

At the going down of the sun

and in the morning.

We remembered them.

Chiswick Sea Cadets once again joined their local Royal British Legion's annual Remembrance Day parade. This year they were joined by their newly formed Junior section as well as one of their supporters, who is now an active serving member of the Royal Navy. As a member of the chiswick and Hammersmith community and share many of the same streets and waterways with the cadets, I joined the Chiswick Unit to photograph the efforts, care and preparation that goes into the biggest parade of the year.

Also represented at the parade were the local Army Cadets, Scouts, Brownies as well as the emergency services of the Police, Fire Brigade, Amubulance and Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

This year saw some slight changes in the running order, as the organisers wished for the whole event to be held at the memorial, as well as Chiswick unit's Chaplain, Andy Rooney, being invited to give a reading.
